ANCIENT town ELINA - castle of DIMOKASTRO Dimokastro is the castle of the ancient town Elina. Dates back to the 4th century BC. It was a colony of the ancient Corinthians.It once was a town of 4 to 6 thousand inhabitants.It is situated at the top of the southern hill of "Karavostasi" the walls going down to the sea once a port.There are also walls of the Roman and/or Hellenistic era. The view from up there is magnificent.Excavations, are still carried on. Dimokastro it means two castles. You can visit the place up to the hill.
